Take The Course

Purchase the course on this page to begin the training & certification process. Chapters of the course include the history of Hip Hop, Popping, Locking,  & Breaking in order to inform the education method being utilized in this program. History is referenced to find the "why" behind this approach.

The classroom based chapters in this course include core lessons & training for every age/skill level, multiple street dance styles, boys only classes, competition classes, and much more.

Step 2

Certify & Unlock Your Resources

​

The course requires you to take two tests. Once you pass both, you'll be able to obtain your official certificate and a year of the perks that come along with it. That means you'll have access to:

​

  • The Resource Library: A library of core and rotating tutorial videos to continue your physical training year round.

​

  • The Certified HQ: A section of this site dedicated to downloadable files for you to use in your classroom. This includes skill trees, lesson plans, games, checklists, and much more. Here, you can also request certain items from the SHOP RESOURCES section of this site such as e-books.

​

  • Webinars: Free access to all upcoming webinars and past webinars hosted by Comix Method creator John "Comix" Barrella. You can see all available webinars at the webinar page in the John Comix For Teachers section of this site.

​

  • Curriculum: Available for free to all certified, subscribed members.

​

  • Consultation: All certified members have the additional perk of requesting one on one consultation to help guide you through any number of needs for your classroom.

Step 3

Keep Learning

​

You have access to all of your additional resources for 1 year following certification. In the meantime, all of the ways you can train will continue to grow. The Comix Method: Resources  subscription you'll have access to changes its tutorial lineup every few months.  The Comix Method certification course goes through annual updates as well, to keep up with  an ever changing dance training landscape. Subscribed members also get cheaper access to new thinkific certification courses, and even free access to others.  As a CERTIFIED teacher, you have a lifetime discount of 50% of the regular subscription fee for The Comix Method: Resources.

Renew Your Active Practitioner Status

Every teacher earns  Active Practitioner Status when they complete the certification course. Once your certification ages 3 years, you may opt to take this Renewal Module in order to refresh your knowledge of The Comix Method by being informed and tested on the most up to date model of The Comix Method.

​

The alternative option for maintaining Active Practitioner Status is maintaining an active Comix Method: Resources subscription. By doing so, certified teachers will remain on the "Active" list.

  • Non-Certified teachers cannot access the renewal module until they've been certified, whether they are subscribed to The Comix Method: Resources or not.

        We were able to host John recently in our studio for two student workshops divided by ages, an adult class and a teacher training. I had followed him on social media and had always been impressed by his level of knowledge and passion to teach REAL hip hop. We were blown away by his knowledge once we met him in person and his training-in addition to his curriculum-has shaped our hip hop program in our studio! I highly recommend using John as a resource however you can, whether it is his curriculum or a live session. He is truly one of the best out there!
